SportsInnovation 2020, organised by Messe Düsseldorf in conjunction with the DFL, Sportcast and Gold Sponsor Deltatre, promises to be as informative as it is entertaining. Two years on from the success of the inaugural sports trade fair, delegates will again convene at the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA in Düsseldorf on 25 and 26 March for the event that gives participants and visitors a platform to discuss the latest developments in the fields of ‘Broadcasting’, ‘Match Analysis’, ‘Sports Performance’, ‘Stadium Experience’ and ‘Digital Leadership’. The theme for the gathering will again be ‘Meet the Future of Sports – Media – Stadium’. Innovative and educational presentations will be a central part of proceedings over the two days, giving attendees the chance to learn more about industry trends and the technologies of the future.
At SportsInnovation 2020 the latest products and services will be presented live and in real time. For each topic, an expert will give a presentation:
Deltatre’s managing director, Christian Holzer, will join his counterpart at Sportec Solutions, Dr Hendrik Weber, with whom he has conceptualised a programme highlighting the latest development in match analysis and its evolvement through its use in sports.
Tim Achberger, Head of Innovation & Technology Management at Sportcast, will address the topic of future broadcasting trends. In his lecture, he will speak about the innovative technologies that will be used to beam the Bundesliga into televisions all around the world and how these changes could influence the league’s media output.
Delegates will also hear from Michael Brill, managing director of Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event (DCSE), who will take a deep dive into the world of stadium experience and talk about the needs of organisers and visitors in the world of fan entertainment, as well as other key areas such as advertising, ticketing, technology and the operation of sports facilities.
Professor Daniel Memmert of the German Sport University Cologne will also lead a discussion in the field of innovations in cognition training, aided by a live demonstration.
The event’s unique setting allows large parts of the program to take place on the pitch itself – home to Fortuna Düsseldorf – using players from the youth teams of several Bundesliga clubs. The first Innovation Match will showcase the latest broadcasting developments using under-23 players from Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1.FC Köln to create a live, real-life situation. The second Innovation Match will highlight plans to enhance the stadium experience with the help of the Under-17 and Under-19 squads from Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, while the third Innovation Match will focus on match analysis using Under-19 players from Fortuna Düsseldorf and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
In addition to the show, guests will also be able to see the latest developments from exhibitors from the digital services and broadcasting sectors. These will include SAP SE, RIEDEL Communications GmbH & Co. KG and SBG Sports Software from the United Kingdom, as well as the world’s leading cloud computing platform, Amazon Web Services, the Bundesliga’s global technology partner.
